If you've been alive for more than 25 years you're fully aware of all the Action Movie cliche's. There must be a Hero, a Damsel in need of rescue, a plucky Side-Kick and of course the evil Bad Guy. Throw in some explosions and gun play and presto, instant Action Movie.
That's the idea behind this hilarious short from On the Lot finalists Jusin Lutsky and Opie Cooper. They asked us to step in and give the project that distinctively Hollywood action movie look, starting with the title treatment. Thanks to our favorite 3D program for this sort of thing, Cinema 4D, we knocked out a couple of concepts really quickly and settled on the brushed metal treatment shown above.

Then it was on to the Posters. As you well know, the main poster is what sets the mood before you've even settled in to your seats, so it was critical that we strike that balance between "take-me-seriously" action and "tongue-in-cheek" comedy. After establishing the look with the main poster, we did some subsidiary posters focusing on the main characters in the movie.

The director liked our work on the project so much, and wanted to keep the brand consistent, that we were asked to do the closing title cards as well. We recreated moments from the film, using stills taken from the original 4K files that came from the Red cameras used to shoot the movie... and a lil' After Effects magic of course. The final sequence was output at 1080p HD quality.
